Primarily, I would like to say how I understand what a
hobby is. Based on my perspective, a hobby is something you enjoy doing, it
brings relief to your body soul and mind for example there are people that like
cooking but some people do it as a hobby since you must have talent to call it
a hobby then you won’t struggle to get it done. What am I trying to say? All I am saying is that you should not call
singing a hobby if you can barely sing the simplest lullaby for a child and that
is why I can call poetry a hobby. As such, many people are amazed by the art,
intrinsic pleasure poetry brings and for that reason I love it too bits. Taking
everything into account, according to Amanda (2013) poetry can be dangerous especially
beautiful poetry because it gives the illusion of having had the experience without
actually going through it. I absolutely agree with her because once you have
written down your feelings and thoughts, it is as good as done for writing
alone is creation.
I am that which you call good, friendly, respectful, I
believe I have a good sense of humor in the sense that I always try as hard as possible to
put the desires of others before mine. I am a smiley person- I always seem to
have a smile on my face even on terrible days it is inevitable to my heart and
mind. I try as much as possible to be myself because if I am not being myself I
am literally trying to be someone else which in turn makes me an nonexistence
person , I do not compromise however, I have a tendency to say harsh things in
a good and friendly way just for the next person’s peace of mind . I do not
like facing reality: it takes me back to stage one in terms of my development
as a girl and in terms of my happiness it makes me depressed. I love expressive
songs like country music to me country songs always have a message behind it,
it speaks to my heart. I believe life is not about how happy and lucky you are
until everyone else around you is happy because if these people are miserable
they are going to make your life miserable for that’s what they represent as
such people have a great influence to your life.
Poetry became a hobby to me in the darkest moment of
my life, I remember I had a huge crush on this phenomenal guy, he was my first
love and I thought gosh! It’s so hard for me to stand in front of him and
recite some lines and at that time I was a very timid girl and putting him in
the picture would make situations worse, that’s why I took writing poetry as my
pleasant option. However some say I had been quick to fall in
love: things did not work out well and letting all my frustrations, anger and
disappointment was the only way I could get better. As such, I could express
how I feel on paper and by coincidence in poetic form. Day by day I became
better and I actually started enjoying my own poems, I would spend hours alone in
my bedroom, just writing and that’s how poetry became a hobby. I spend a lot of
my free time composing poetry and sometimes I would recite my poems at church
events example: Easter weekends, mother’s day and Christmas. Moreover people
really do enjoy my work which makes everything else easier.
Poetry represents the fact that I have found my
purpose. It takes me to a world no one has ever imagined and therefor I can run
to this place when I am sad because it is basically my other friend, for
through poetry I can let all my feelings out it is like having a priest you can
go to when you want to confess and after all the crying and motivation you get
from him, you actually feel relieved and refreshed and that is what writing
poetry does for me. Most of my poems that I write during my free time are
special in the sense that they all represent my thoughts and feelings during
that period. In addition, I mostly tell people that if you have read one of my
poems then you have taken a step into my life because they all reveal me.
To sum up I would say, it does not matter whether your
hobby is dancing, sleeping or painting, what matters is whether it benefits
your soul or not.
